Mark is a fourth generation officer of The Salvation Army. He was commissioned and ordained in 1989.

He married Isobel in 1982. They have five children and eight grand-children. With Isobel, Mark spent 35 years in pastoral ministry, serving congregations across Canada, including two churches he planted. He had additional responsibility as an Area Commander in British Columbia for three years.

He was also Dean of the School of Continuing Studies at Booth University College. And, at The Salvation Army's national headquarters in Toronto, he resourced churches across Canada. He was interim pastor at North Toronto Community Church before taking up his role as lead pastor at Kelowna Community Church, from which he retired.
