Dr. Mark Wichman

Milwaukee-based orthopedic surgeon Mark Wichman strives to provide his patients with compassionate, individualized care for painful injuries of the elbow, knee, ankle, and shoulder joints. Focusing on minimally invasive surgical techniques such as arthroscopy, Dr. Wichman leads his field in implementing technological developments that make patient treatment as painless as possible and promote rapid healing rates. Dr. Wichman has practiced in the Milwaukee area for over 15 years, working primarily with patients suffering from work- and sports-related injuries.

After graduating from the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health with his Doctor of Medicine, Dr. Mark Wichman went on to complete a residency in orthopedic surgery and then a fellowship in sports medicine. In 1996, he accepted a position as Orthopedic Surgeon with Milwaukee Orthopedic Specialists, S.C. To this day, Dr. Wichman remains with the medical group, now known as Aurora Advanced Healthcare, Inc. He is a Medical Leader at the Aurora Sports Medicine Institute in Wauwatosa, a specialized division of Aurora Advanced Healthcare, and also retains several active affiliations with area hospitals.

Dr. Wichman holds numerous certifications and medical licenses with organizations such as the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery and the Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional Services. He is a member of the Wisconsin Medical Society and the Arthroscopy Association of North America, as well as a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons.

As part of his practice, Dr. Mark Wichman frequently utilizes arthroscopic surgical techniques, a procedure that utilizes an endoscope to view and repair internal injuries through small incisions, eliminating the need for open surgery. Dr. Wichman participates in clinical studies researching arthroscopy, and he shares his expertise with colleagues at medical forums and national meetings.

Engaged in the greater Milwaukee community, Dr. Wichman is involved with several local organizations and participates in activities such as fundraising and volunteering. He is President of Operation DREAM, a mentoring program designed to enrich the lives of inner-city young men through education and visioning the possibilities of the future. Dr. Mark Wichman is also a member of the Jewish National Fund and the Maimonides Society.
