For more than three decades, Dr. Micha Abeles M.D. served as a professor of medicine at the University of Connecticut Health Center and as interim chief of the Division of Rheumatic Diseases where he led a number of groundbreaking studies.
Dedicated to scholarship as well as practice, Dr. Abeles co-authored the 1990 Fibromyalgia Criteria Paper and has emerged as an authority on systemic lupus erythematosus, osteoarthritis, and rheumatoid arthritis. Over the course of his career, he has also studied Lyme disease, myositis, vasculitis, and polymyalgia rheumatica. In preparation for his career, Micha Abeles M.D. studied at Cornell University and then the State University of New York at Buffalo School of Medicine and Biomedical Science. After earning his doctor of medicine and completing a residency at the latter facility, he relocated to Connecticut to complete his fellowship in rheumatology at the University of Connecticut.
