Dr Michael Rubino is a Child & Adolescent Psycotherapist trying to help parents who are having difficulties with their child or teens & also trying to help their child or teen.
Many therapists feel that working with children and teenagers is too much work. They feel this way because often you need to deal with the Department of Probation or messy divorce situations. Yes it's more work, but Dr. Michael Rubino believes someone has to help these teens. If no one does, what will happen to them? We have an obligation to help.
I also believe the way we deal with mental health is terrible. No one should be ashamed because they need therapy. It is also terrible that in the richest country in the world we have children living in poverty.
I believe in the saying the more you know the more you owe. I have my doctorate so I believe I have an obligation to help children.
As a therapist who works with children and teens, I am a strong advocate for their rights. I help many parents get IEPs for their child because the school districts do not want to spend money on the students. Therefore, I educate parents about the IEP process so they know their rights. Dr. Michael Rubino also attends IEP meetings to assist parents. Recently, Dr. Rubino started a new website specifically about the IEP process to help parents.
