Dr. Monya De is a physician and journalist who trained in the University of California-Los Angeles (UCLA) health system, where she designed a software-based program to track patients’ follow-up records. Dr. De has served as an ABC News medical reporter, and she contributes to regional and national media outlets such as the Los Angeles Times, The Economist, and East Bay Express. Since 2009, she has been as a medical storyline technical consultant for various nationally acclaimed television shows, including “Glee,” “The Ghost Whisperer,” and “House,” among others.

Monya De received a degree in human biology with a minor in English literature with honors, from Stanford University, where she was a Fulbright finalist and undergraduate research grant recipient. Her undergraduate thesis focused on barriers to birth control among teenage girls, and she discovered that cultural mores of Hispanic men were a key barrier to their partners' using birth control methods. She went on to receive her doctor of medicine and master of public health from the University of California, earning distinction from the American Medical Association as the top medical student in the communication of science.

Dr. De is a leader in the Stanford Alumni Association and was selected as a presenter at the 2015 Stanford Medicine X Conference.
