Matthew Weissman
Chief Medical Officer, VP of Medical Affairs in New York
Dr. Matthew A. Weissman was named Chief Medical Officer of Community Healthcare Network in June 2012. Following the passing of CHN’s late past President and CEO, Catherine M. Abate, Dr. Weissman served as the organization’s Acting President and CEO from May 2014 to January 2015. In his current role, he oversees the quality of clinical care and the operations of 14 clinical sites in the organization, recruits providers, interfaces with community groups and hospital administrators, & provides a clinical perspective when collaborating with senior management on the operations of the organization.
Dr. Weissman received an AB in Economics from Harvard University magna cum laude and a Medical Doctorate and Masters in Business Administration in Health Management from Tufts University. He completed his residency and chief residency at Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York and is Board Certified in both Internal Medicine and Pediatrics.
Dr. Weissman holds academic appointments at Mount Sinai Medical Center and the Sophie Davis School of Biomedical Education and holds Courtesy Attending Physician appointments at Beth Israel Medical Center. He currently co-chairs the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene’s Citywide Colon Cancer Control Coalition (C5). He is the co-chair of the Clinical Quality Committee and the Cardiovascular Project Committee of the Mount Sinai Preferred Provider System (DSRIP PPS). He is on the Boards of Directors of the Community Health Care Association of New York State (CHCANYS) and AmidaCare. He is a Fellow of the New York Academy of Medicine. His primary interests are the transition of pediatric to adult care, improving use of electronic medical records, increasing accessibility to care, and streamlining health care delivery.
