Dr. Natasha Dwamena

Dr. Natasha Dwamena uses her education and experience to improve the health and quality-of-life issues that disproportionately impact immigrants and women of color. A graduate of the University of Medicine & Dentistry of New Jersey (UMDNJ)-New Jersey Medical School, Dr. Dwamena performed her residency in obstetrics and gynecology (OBGYN) at Meharry Medical College in Nashville, Tennessee. She earned a Bachelor of Arts with Departmental Honors from Stanford University in Palo Alto, California. While at Stanford, Dr. Natasha Dwamena served a summer internship with the New York City Department of Health. Working in the Bureau of Environmental and Occupational Disease Prevention, Dr. Dwamena contributed to the Health Research Training Program by investigating mercury use in the regional custom of Santeria. Her research was used to create a manual for health care professionals working with Latino and Caribbean clients. In California, Dr. Natasha Dwamena also undertook community service, volunteering at local clinics and health fairs with the group Chicanos/Latinos in Health Education, from whom she won two member awards. Earning the respect of her peers through her community work and academic excellence, Dr. Dwamena was elected president of the Stanford Black Pre-Medical Organization. Most recently, Dr. Natasha Dwamena worked at a medical practice in High Point, North Carolina. As an OBGYN, she coordinated with local doctors in maternal fetal medicine and gynecologic oncology while increasing her familiarity with in-office procedures. Dr. Dwamena seeks her next challenge, where she can continue to assist a diverse community with its health needs, particularly those that may be unmet in a more traditional setting.
