An avid orchid hobbyist since 1987, I spent the better part of 20 of those years using orchids as a research topic while earning my doctorate and then teaching undergraduates. While I valued many of the students and fellow educators met over those years, I eventually realized that a change was necessary. Oglethorpe Orchids was born in 2012 and while building a business has its stresses and frustrations, I am happier than I have been in years!
