A former superintendent of Alachua County Public Schools (ACPS) in Greater Gainesville, Florida, Dr. Owen Roberts has more than 40 years of experience in the education field. His specific areas of expertise include educational research, curriculum planning, student assessment and accountability, school technology integration, and public-private partnerships. During his time with ACPS, he established a number of transformative initiatives with specific focuses on early childhood education and language development. Dr. Owen Roberts also incorporated a comprehensive STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics) project-based learning platform.
Before joining ACPS in 2014, he has held senior level administrative positions in Monroe County, Florida and St. Lucie County, Florida, respectively, as the Executive Director of Research, Accountability, and Assessment; and Assistant Superintendent of Teaching and Learning and Associate Superintendent. Under Dr. Roberts’ leadership, SLPS evolved from a low-C school district to a high-B school district, according to independent industry research and data analysis. While working in Monroe County, Dr. Roberts taught graduate course at the University of Miami as an adjunct professor of educational research and statistics.
