Dr. Paul Drago

Dr. Paul Drago is an otolaryngologist and medical director at Barnwell Community Hospital. Otolaryngology is the study of ear, nose and throat conditions and otolaryngologists are often referred to as ENTs, ENT doctors or head and neck specialists. Before working with the Blackville Medical Center at the Southern Palmetto Hospital in South Carolina, Dr. Paul Drago worked as a staff physician and Otolaryngology consultant with the Department of Corrections, Kershaw, Evans, and Turbeville in South Carolina, and also worked in Genesis ENT & PLLC in Charlotte, North Carolina. He also has experience at the Central Carolina Ear, Nose, Throat & Audiological Center P.A. in Rock Hill, South Carolina.

Many patients who require the services of an otolaryngologist are children who suffer from ear, nose and throat disorders. For Dr. Paul Drago, being able to help these children is what motivates him to continue his career.

“I saved the life of a 12-year-old child who had laryngitis,” he said. “While that surgery was very challenging, it was also one of the most rewarding experience of my life.”

Aside from helping children in his profession, Paul Drago M.D. helps children and the general community outside of his profession as well. Dr. Paul Drago served in a medical mission to provide medical assistance to children in the Dominican Republic and his experience inspired him to continue serving in future missions abroad. He currently serves as a Board Member of the Stewards of Christ Children’s Homeless Project and assists in feeding the homeless through the Charlotte Rescue Mission. He also volunteers his time at various soup kitchens and with the Stewards of Christ where he advises and helps young adult men make their way in the world. He has also volunteered his services at Promise Keepers and with the American Cancer Society. In the near future, Paul Drago, MD hopes to adopt an orphan from China.
