Dr. Phenessa A. Gray, native of Jacksonville, FL, is THE Empowerment Doctor. Certified Social+Emotional Intelligence and Therapeutic Arts Life Coach, Soulful Creative, Inspirational Author, Empowerful Spoken Word Artist, Founder and CEO of Bodacious Women Ministries and EmpowerCREATIVE! Studios with a mission to empower others to feel better, think better, and create their better world by empowering community with art and soul. She’s adept at using empathetic engagement, creative expression, and academic and programmatic expertise in empowering others through arts & crafts (e.g., painting, drawing, jewelry-making, purpose boards, etc.), aromatherapy, collage, computer art, cooking/baking, gardening, interpretive dance, mixed media, photography, and writing (e.g., journaling, poetry, and biblio-coaching). Her educational background includes earning a Bachelor of Arts degree (BA) in English Literature with a minor in Creative Writing from Florida State University; Master of Science in Library Services (MSLS) from Clark Atlanta University; Master of Science in Industrial-Organizational Psychology (MS/IOP) from University of Phoenix; Biblical Counseling Diploma from the American Association of Christian Counselors; Social + Emotional Intelligence Coach Certification from the Institute for Social+Emotional Intelligence; Therapeutic Arts Life Coach Certification from Transformation Academy; Thinking for a Change (T4C) Cognitive Behavioral Therapy Intervention Certification from the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office; and, Doctor of Philosophy in Business Management (PhD) from Capella University. Additionally, Dr. Phenessa has worked in various aspects of leadership including academic, corporate, government, and non-profit settings for the past 20 years.
Dr. Phenessa is a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., Delta Mu Delta International Honor Society in Business, Xi Delta Chapter, and Institute of Social + Emotional Intelligence. Previously, she's served on the Advisory Board, Jacksonville Women’s Business Center; past Commissioner and Chair of the Mayor’s Commission on the Status of Women; and, past Co-Chair, Fund Development and Board, Jacksonville Sister Cities Association. Also, she has authored and published six books of which five are still in print. She’s the proud mother of two beautiful daughters and has a passion for empowering others to be their authentic selves through creative exploration.
