Dr. Robert Belfon

Dr. Robert Belfon, founder and principal dentist in private practice at Pediatric Special Care in Albuquerque, New Mexico, also holds the distinction of having served his country in Operation Desert Storm in 1991. Dr. Belfon began his military career in 1985 as a United States Navy Reservist and went on to become a Career Development Officer, a lecturer to Medical Corpsmen, and a coordinator of physical fitness and cardiopulmonary resuscitation training for other reservists. Dr. Robert Belfon received a promotion to Lieutenant Commander and an award for marksmanship in 1986. That same year, he served in a dental clinic on a naval station branch in Bermuda and represented his unit at a conference of the Association of Military Surgeons of the United States. Dr. Belfon became a Battalion Dental Officer in 1987 and, in 1988, earned a Fleet Marine Force Ribbon.

Dr. Robert Belfon continues his focus on community service in his dental practice today. He participated in a recent New Mexico Dental Foundation Mission of Mercy, in which medical personnel provided free dental care to several hundred children in the state. Dr. Belfon and his staff concentrate on providing a welcoming, supportive environment to all children, particularly those with special physical, mental, and psychological needs. The "Harmony Park Mural" in his office paints a picture of his patient care philosophy: that each child has a right to receive the best health care possible in order to lead a happy and productive life. Dr. Belfon has been an enthusiastic presence at numerous community health fairs around his state.

Dr. Robert Belfon, a native New Yorker, holds a Doctor of Dental Medicine from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. He performed postgraduate work with the Columbia University College of Dental Medicine and the New York University College of Dentistry. He is a member of the American Dental Association and numerous other medical and professional societies at the state and national level.
