Dr. Robert Groves

A physician and medical director dedicated to research that addresses current health care needs, Dr. Robert Groves most recently led a study evaluating the performance of a critical care telemedicine system at Banner Health including three large hospitals in Phoenix, Arizona. Dr. Groves' previous research projects include “Examining Variation in Length of Stay for Elective Bronchoscopy” and “Prospective Evaluation of Risk Factors and Outcome of Pulmonary Barotrauma,” both of which he completed during his time as a fellow in pulmonary and critical care medicine at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. A 1986 graduate of the Medical College of Georgia (Georgia Health Sciences University), Dr. Robert Groves frequently details his findings in periodicals. He has been published in journals including Critical Care Medicine, Current Pulmonology, and Clinics in Chest Medicine. Committed to improving the treatment of patients in various regards, Dr. Robert Groves also holds a history as an instructor. His past teaching appointments include the North Colorado Medical Center and the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center. A skilled administrator as well as educator, Dr. Robert Groves has acted as Medical Director of Subacute Care at Fairacres Manor in Greeley, Colorado; Medical Director of Health Recovery Center in Fort Collins; and Medical Director of Subacute Care at Bonnell Good Samaritan Center, also in Greeley. Today, he serves as System Medical Director of Critical Care at Banner Health in Phoenix, Arizona. A leader in the implementation of remote technology for better patient accommodation, Dr. Robert Groves recently instituted a Tele-ICU program that reduced costs by millions of dollars and resulted in a mortality rate 30 percent below the national average. Dr. Groves resides in Arizona and Colorado. In his leisure hours, he enjoys reading philosophy and poetry, spending time with family, and lifting weights.
