I specialize in using Cognitive Therapy. With Cognitive Therapy you will learn a way to feel better in a short time. Cognitive Therapy is a very effective structured approach that gives you concrete tools to change the way you feel. The primary theory of this approach is that the way you feel depends on how you see a situation. If you are anxious, depressed, under great stress or have any other mood fluctuation you do not see situations realistically because of the symptoms. The therapy is to teach you a set of skills that allows you to see the thoughts that underlie your feelings more realistically and to change your behavior accordingly.
I am the past President of the New York City Cognitive Behavioral Therapy Association. I am a Psychologist and Assistant Clinical Professor in the Department of Psychiatry of Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York where I teach Cognitive Therapy. I have worked extensively in the area of mood disorders, anxiety, depression, bi-polar disorder, stress management and motivation with individuals, with groups and with companies in industry.
I have lectured nationally and internationally, and am an experienced talk show guest, having appeared regularly on MSNBC, CNN, FOX CABLE NETWORK, INSIDE EDITION, GERALDO, REGIS AND KATHY LEE, CBS GOOD MORNING, FOX NEWS, GOOD DAY NEW YORK, MAURY POVICH, as well as local news shows. I have completed two national media tours and have been quoted as an authority in dozens of publications including The Ladies Home Journal, Child, Parenting, Time, The New York Times, U.S. News and World Report, and USA Today.
