The president and chief executive officer of the University of The Bahamas in Nassau, Dr. Rodney D. Smith spearheads daily operations and leads transformative strategies for a national multi-campus system of higher education. Under Dr. Rodney D. Smith’s leadership, the University of The Bahamas won a 2020 Ellucian Impact Award in the category of student experience.

Before accepting his current position in 2014, Dr. Rodney D. Smith served six years as an administrative vice president at Hampton University in Hampton, Virginia, and four years as president of the Ramapo College of New Jersey in Mahwah. He laid the foundation for his successful career with both a doctorate and a master of education from the Harvard Graduate School of Education in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Dr. Smith also holds a master of arts in clinical and educational psychology from Fisk University in Nashville, Tennessee, and a bachelor of arts in psychology from Saint John's University in Collegeville, Minnesota.
