Dr. Roxanne Duvivier

Having recently accepted a position at Wright State University as an instructor, Dr. Roxanne DuVivier brings 37 years of experience to the role. Dr. DuVivier has worked in several capacities, including adjunct faculty member, counselor, private practice psychologist, and overseer of student affairs. Joining Wright State in 2010, she previously spent more than 30 years with Hocking College in Nelsonville, Ohio.

After filling the roles of mathematics instructor and high school counselor, Dr. Roxanne DuVivier provided mental health services for Hocking College. A large portion of her initial role included counseling students on adjustment issues. In her first few years at Hocking, she also taught general and applied psychology courses in the evenings. Dr. DuVivier later rose to the position of Coordinator of College Counseling, in which she handled case reviews. After one year, she was promoted to Director of Counseling Services and began supervising three counselors and support staff.

From 1981 to 1991, Dr. Roxanne DuVivier served the college as the Dean of Students, managing academic advising, career planning, placements, residence life, counseling and health services, and campus safety. Dr. DuVivier supervised 35 staff members and a budget of $600,000. Finding much success in this role, she spent an additional 11 years as the Senior Vice President of Student Affairs. Accepting leadership of more divisions, she saw her staff grow to 68 members, with the budget increasing to nearly $2 million.

In 2002, Dr. Roxanne DuVivier extended her direction to include international programs. Gaining more staff and an even larger budget, Dr. DuVivier thrived in this capacity. Under her approach, overall enrollment increased, a model of conduct for the campus came to fruition, and counseling services expanded to include individual plans for success. Notably, Dr. DuVivier acquired $7 million to use for a student athletic and recreational center. She also tripled the size of the residence hall and created a system for student recognition based on academic achievements.
