Dr. Scott Wilbur
With 15 years of experience as an educator, Dr. Scott Wilbur possesses an accomplished record of achievement. Over the course of his career, which has included many roles as Principal K-12, Dr. Scott Wilbur has applied his knowledge and expertise to every opportunity that has come his way in an effort to help students learn at higher levels and schools grow and improve.
Earning his Bachelor of Arts in History at the University of California, Los Angeles, Dr. Scott Wilbur appeared on the dean’s list for three years in a row, graduating magna cum laude. He subsequently left the country to participate in the Japan Exchange and Teaching (JET) Program, teaching English in Utsunomiya. After returning to the United States, Dr. Scott Wilbur chose to utilize this experience as a springboard and began to focus on pursuing a career in education.
Earning a Social Science Teaching Credential, Dr. Scott Wilbur earned a teaching role at Rancho Alamitos High School, where he spent four years and earned recognition as Teacher of the Year. Shortly thereafter, he became Assistant Principal at Santiago High School. Dr. Scott Wilbur completed his Administrative Credential and Master of Arts in Education, leaving Santiago to fill the same role at Capistrano Valley High School.
Earning his Doctor of Education with an emphasis on educational leadership in 2004, Dr. Scott Wilbur obtained a position as Principal with Mira Costa High School in the same year. Following this role, he spent three years as Principal at Mary Bragg Elementary School, and then three more at Carl Hankey K-8. As Principal, he actively focused on redesigning curriculum with teacher teams, revamped and introduced new curriculum and forged new community partnerships at Mary Bragg Elementary School and Carl Hankey K-8 School. The results at both schools led to higher STAR test scores, multiple year API increases, a Distinguished School Award in 2008 and a self-funded International Baccalaureate (IB) Candidate Program in 2011. Drawing on his vast experience in helping all students learn by name and by need, Dr. Scott Wilbur looks forward to working with teachers, parents and students to make The Nuview Bridge Early College High School the best high school in the world!
