Sean George

The recipient of a bachelor's degree, master's degree, and PhD in molecular genetics from the University of California, Sean George began his career as an associate with McKinsey & Company's Corporate Finance and Pharmaceutical & Biotech Office. He spent 3 years with the global management consulting firm, assisting biotech and pharmaceutical companies with strategy development, as well as mergers and acquisitions. Sean George subsequently served as strategic planning director at Molecular Probes, Inc., where he prepared the company for an IPO by redesigning business processes and building its executive team.

Sean George worked in leadership roles at Invitrogen Corporation from 2003 to 2006. As vice president of its Diagnostic Solutions business, he oversaw platform development to enhance broader diagnostic efforts, among other responsibilities. He later worked in executive roles at Affymetrix, Inc. and Navigenics, Inc.

Sean George co-founded Invitae in 2010, and continues to serve as CEO of the medical-grade genetic testing enterprise. The company, which allows individuals to access genetic information via physician-requested, at-home testing kits, has been chosen by more than 1 million patients and their providers since its inception.
