Shannon Albarelli, Psy.D.
Shannon Albarelli, Psy.D. is licensed in the state of NY (#018284) and in the State of New Jersey (#4764). She currently works as a private practice practitioner who is dedicated to developing and providing comprehensive professional services for adults, adolescents and children. Dr. Albarelli received her B.A. in psychology from Brown University and her Psy.D. from the Massachusetts School of Professional Psychology with a specialization in Clinical Health Psychology. She completed her post-doctoral training at Harvard Vanguard, an affiliate of Harvard Medical School, which is a multi-specialty medical group practice that delivers comprehensive and integrative health and wellness services. Dr. Albarelli has a clinical specialization in health psychology with an emphasis on wellness and mind/body medicine. She has treated a wide range of clinical problems with a diverse population in a variety of settings. Dr. Albarelli has developed expertise conducting individual, group, couples and family therapy with children, adolescents, and adults. Her background includes training in positive psychology, cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), behavioral medicine, yoga-based stress reduction, hypnosis, biofeedback, and play therapy. Dr. Albarelli's clinical interests include depression, anxiety, panic disorder, eating disorders, adjustment disorders, phobias, women’s issues and stress related illnesses with all age groups. In addition to having her doctorate, Dr. Albarelli is also a certified yoga instructor and bar method instructor who continues to teach both children and adults on a weekly basis. She is committed to integrating her expertise in yoga and mindfulness to improving the quality of life of all her clients. Prior to having her own private practice, Dr. Albarelli developed a yoga-based play therapy intervention called "Yo-Play" designed to foster self-esteem, self-regulation, and pro-social skills with pre-school children. She currently implements this program with clients in order to use the power of play to heal and strengthen children.
