3 - Currently, my goal is to establish a pilot Supplemental Instruction Program at Johnson C. Smith University while I complete my dissertation. The working title of my dissertation is "HBCUs UnHushed: Spiritual Resilience Rising Above Racism in the Life Histories of African American Historically Black University Graduates." [professor, administrator, writing articles/books in california, abroad, davidson...jcsu, spelman]
1 - Do consistent volunteer work. 2 - Find mentors.
4 - I really love singing and want to find a platform to do so in the church and wherever else God places me.
Travel makes me feel free and peace is one of my most important values; one day I'd like to be a U.S. diplomat or ambassador (possible to Palestine).
5 - Yoga is a place I feel safe, I'm working to return to my mat.
7 - Another place I felt safe and free was on the track and in the field. One day I'd like to sprint, bound, and be brave again. Teaching young athletes how to do the same feels possible too. 4 - (YMCA track, 7 - Master's, 7 - AAU)
6 - I want to be active in my Sorority again; particularly to do community service and reconnect with sisterhood.
3 - Even though it takes a lot for me to get started, I know that research writing is one of my gifts - I am good at critical race narrative inquiry about life histories as well as higher education & policy-related writing.
Later - I'd like to turn my dissertation data into one anthology of African American HBCU graduates' life history... as futuristic blueprints for Black HBCU student success. [Sounds like a great title... HBCUs unhushed: futuristic & historic blueprints for black student success]
I have visions of 5 entrepreneurial endeavors:
8 - HBCUs UnHushed Mentorship Collective
9 - Diverse Reciprocity; HBCU MOOCs
9 - A Colorful Mind; diversity and inclusion training through yoga and mindfulness
10 - Lael Lounge; a chain of restaurant lounges near colleges & universities designed to be culturally celebratory save havens
? - To just sing on stages somwhere(s)
Progress through prayer - thought i wanted to get married - but it seems i really only have room for healthy, positive friendships. and i think that's what i need. people who are excited about life, doing amazing things in service to humanity, and want to work in with me to help make our visions reality. i'll probably adopt twins :-) i have a dog named Peace who brings me joy and teaches me unselfishness.
Writing the vision & making it plain...
