An experienced general and cosmetic dentist based in Amherst, New York, Dr. Todd Shatkin has been in private practice for three decades. Specializing in mini dental implants, Dr. Todd Shatkin developed and patented the Shatkin FIRST modality of treatment.
Short for Fabricated Implant Restorations and Surgical Technique, FIRST has achieved a 95 percent success rate in employing mini implants for full-arch reconstructions, denture stabilization, and both single and multiple tooth replacements. Dr. Todd Shatkin designed the FIRST Technique to allow for complete tooth restoration without requiring the removal of any healthy tooth material. The smaller implants can be used in patients who have suffered too much bone loss for traditional implants.
Dr. Shatkin has further demonstrated his expertise in his field as the president of the International Academy of Mini Dental Implants. He has shared his experience as the author of multiple peer-reviewed articles, including A Simplified Approach to Implant Dentistry with Mini Dental Implants and Mini Dental Implants.
A graduate of the University of the Pacific School of Dentistry, Dr. Shatkin is currently a member of the New York state and Erie County dental associations. In his free moments, he enjoys spending time with his wife and family.
