Jenna Morse

My name is Jenna Morse and I am a social worker in Calgary Canada. I work specifically with people who suffer from drug and alcohol addiction, and families of addicts.

For many people, substance abuse starts recreationally. Groups of friends get together and use substances that make them feel better, enhance social situations, or whatever reason it may be. While for many, drug abuse does not get out of hand, the user may be able to use proper self control and never become addicted. However for millions of people world wide, that is not the case.

What many people don't realize is that drug addiction does not occur just because an individual lacks self control. In fact there could be much more complex reasons behind an addiction. These reasons could be the individuals biology, environment, mental health, and level of drug awareness education.

My goal is to help users who suffer from substance abuse, and help prevent drug abuse by spreading prevention awareness. Successful prevention could be the key to curing this global epidemic.
