As a Special Grade Education Officer at the Ministry of Education, Brunei Darussalam, I am dedicated to enhancing teaching and learning through professional development and evidence-based practices. At the Brunei Darussalam Leadership and Teacher Academy (BDLTA), I design and deliver programs that empower educators and leaders to achieve sustainable improvements.

Key Responsibilities and Contributions:

Professional Development: I lead the facilitation of courses that address pedagogical challenges, employing methods like lesson study to refine teaching practices. I’ve trained Economics teachers to enhance assessment accuracy and develop student-focused lessons.

Leadership Mentoring: Mentoring subject leaders to lead action research and lesson study initiatives fosters continuous improvement and evidence-based practices across departments.

Academic Writing and Publishing: I developed a modular course on academic writing and publishing, equipping educators with the skills to document and share their insights, fostering a research-informed teaching culture.

Research Contributions: My co-authored paper, “Analysing a Chemistry Lesson on Ionic Bonding: Insights from a Learning Study,” will be published in December 2024, showcasing my dedication to advancing pedagogical research.

Career Highlights:

Leadership and Management: As a former school leader in state and private sectors, I successfully led improvement initiatives and cultivated high-performing teams.

Teaching Excellence: With extensive Economics teaching experience, I’ve marked A-level Economics scripts for a UK examination board since 2017 and received a Special Mention from the Ministry of Education in 2010.

Editorial and Review Roles: I have reviewed for The International Journal for Lesson and Learning Studies and Brunei’s Teachers’ Day Conference. In October 2024, I was appointed as a Council Member of the World Association of Lesson Studies (WALS).

Awards: In 2006, the Brunei Government recognized my service with the Pingat Indah Kerja Baik (PIKB) medal.

Vision: My mission is to foster collaboration and continuous learning among educators. By expanding professional development opportunities and contributing to global educational discourse through research and publication, I aim to leave a lasting impact on teaching and learning.
