Dr. Warren P. Edwards is a native of Atlanta, Georgia. He attended high school at the Benjamin E. Mays Academy of Math and Science in Atlanta, GA, Atlanta Public Schools. His graduate work includes Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration/Marketing from Clark Atlanta University, Atlanta, Georgia; Masters of Arts and Doctor of Philosophy degrees from Oklahoma State University in Natural and Applied Science and Environmental Science, respectively. He received his teaching, Leadership and Administration certifications from Mercer University in Atlanta. He also holds certification in Middle Grades with emphasis on mathematics, social studies, gifted and P-12 Leadership and Administration.
His educational experience includes middle school math teacher, Master Instructional Coach for Math and Science and Instructional Liaison Specialist, for Atlanta Public and Dekalb County Schools. Dr. Edwards has worked in Title I elementary and middle schools and the Math and Science Department at the district level. He has experience with special education, traditional and gifted students.
Prior to joining Atlanta Public Schools he served as Program Manager for NASA’s Urban and Rural Enrichment Program at NASA Headquarters in Washington, D.C., Adjunct Professor for Oklahoma State University, Aerospace Education Specialist at NASA Langley Research Center. He has served as an Adjunct Professor (Aerospace Education) with Oklahoma State University as an Aerospace Education Specialist representing the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) for the Office of Communication and Education at NASA Langley Research Center, in Hampton, Virginia. Serving as a liaison between NASA and education communities for South Carolina and North Carolina. As the Aerospace education specialist he was also responsible for communicating, advising, and introducing both, students and teachers, to NASA’s education resources and programs. Additionally, Dr. Edwards has conducted professional development in-service and pre-service workshops to assist the educators in aligning the NASA resources to the local and state standards. He facilitated NASA’s objective of inspiring and motivating students to pursue careers in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and math, (STEM).
