Educated at Harvard University, Dr. William C. Meyers graduated cum laude with a degree in the History of Science in 1971. He went on to complete his Doctor of Medicine at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons in 1975. Performing his postdoctoral training at Duke University Medical Center, he became Chief Resident of Surgery in 1982 and completed a fellowship in gastrointestinal research in 1983. Beyond his medical training, he holds a Master of Business Administration from the University of Pennsylvania.
Dr. William Meyers has actively contributed to academia over the course of his medical career. Most recently, he has held positions including Professor of Surgery at Duke University Medical Center, Chairman of Surgery at the University of Massachusetts Medical School, and Chairman of Surgery and Senior Associate Dean at Drexel University College of Medicine. As a leader in his field, Dr. William C. Meyers has recently served as President of the Philadelphia Academy of Surgery, Trustee of the International Council for Surgical Gastroenterology. His contributions to the medical community include authoring two academic books and more than 300 peer-reviewed journal articles.
