Steven Brown

Providence, Rhode Island

The overall objective of my work is to better understand, conserve and restore the ecological integrity of coastal environments. Restoration and management of estuarine systems require a multidisciplinary approach and understanding of bio-physical and socio-economic controls on management actions. As such, I take a collaborative and hypothesis-driven approach to addressing present-day management problems.

I’m a professional ecologist and geospatial analyst with extensive experience in restoration ecology and ecosystem-based management. I attribute much of my passion for the marine world to my upbringing on a family owned marina in Noank, Connecticut, where I spent much of my time fishing and exploring the coastal landscape.
