Over the course of nearly three decades, Duane Hicks has cultivated a successful career as an aviation specialist through positions with numerous Canadian entities such as the Calgary Flying Club. Laying the foundation for his future accomplishments, he pursued studies toward becoming an aircraft maintenance engineer at the Stevenson Technical Training Center in Winnipeg. While in school, Duane Hicks maintained a position as director of maintenance with the family-owned Hicks & Lawrence, Ltd., where he oversaw daily upkeep of a fleet consisting of more than 30 aircraft. In 1999, he purchased the firm from his father and subsequently served as chief executive officer and president over the next six years.
After gaining further executive experience with Discovery Air and Buffalo Airways, Mr. Hicks joined the nonprofit Calgary Flying Club in 2013. In his role as general manager and CEO, he has successfully driven revenue to an excess of $3 million per year after spearheading efforts to minimize expenditures and increase revenues on a monthly basis.
Outside of his professional responsibilities, Duane Hicks pursues a wide range of hobbies, including traveling internationally and skiing. An avid hockey fan, he holds season tickets for his local NHL team and previously served as owner of a Senior AAA team. Active in his community, he supports a number of charities that provide food to children and fund educational programs.
