Eduardo R. Ribeiro

I'm an anthropological linguist dedicated to the documentation of indigenous South American languages. Besides being interested in all things Karajá (the Macro-Jê language which was the topic of my PhD dissertation at the University of Chicago), I'm mainly interested in historical linguistics and morphology (and, better yet, a combination of both).

I'm currently working on the documentation and description of two endangered Amazonian languages, Aikanã and Kwazá (Rondônia, Brazil), under a post-doc grant from the Max Planck Institute for Psycholinguistics.

While at Chicago, I taught Portuguese to undergraduate and graduate students. Outside of academia, I have amassed extensive experience as a medical interpreter (Spanish & Portuguese) in the Baltimore/Washington DC area.
