Canberra residents and visitors can now try out some amazing Indian food in town in a new restaurant called Dum Dickson. The creation of Chef Adam, the chef behind award winning restaurants in Canberra, the Dum Dickson boasts of some of Australia’s favourite Indian dishes as well as certain Indian foods that you do not get to see everywhere.
The restaurant menu comprises of entrees that include the well-known dishes such as Chicken Tikka, Reshmi Kebab and Galouti Kebab as well as vegetarian fare such as Vegetable Samosas, Vegetable Pakoras and Onion Bhajias. The starters menu also comprises of dishes such as Chicken 65 – a speciality of Hyderabad in South India, Jhinga Til Tinka – deep fried prawns coated with sesame seeds, and Momos – a Tibetan delicacy similar to Chinese Dim Sums.
The main dishes include Chicken dishes such as Dum Chicken Curry, Butter Chicken and Chicken Tikka Masala; lamb and goat dishes such as Dum Lamb Saag, Lamb Curry, Lamb Korma and Dum Goat Curry. Food aficionados can try out Lamb Madras, a dish reportedly originating in erstwhile Madras (now Chennai) and a favourite of British officers stationed there in the days of the Raj. And then there are the beef dishes Beef Madras and Beef Vindaloo.
People who prefer vegetarian food can choose from dishes such as Shahi Paneer, Palak Paneer, Matter Paneer, Mixed Vegetables Korma, Malai Kofta, Channa Masala, Dal Dum Pukht and Bengali Dum Aloo.
