Patrick Duncan

Hello all! Thank you for visiting my about.me page. I guess you can call me "hip" now.

I am from Wilbraham, MA, and currently attending the University of Massachusets Amherst where I study Building and Construction Technology. I am also a member of the Commonwealth Honors College here at the University. I became interested in energy efficient design/construction and sustainability after experiencing multiple natural disasters in my hometown that destroyed many buildings.

I plan on going into construction management with a focus on green buildings. I hope to help lower the energy consumption that buildings have in the U.S. which is currently at about 40%.

During my internship with Northeast Utilities I was exposed to the many steps behind a new construction project. In each of these phases energy technology costs are a concern. I hope to contribute to lowering these costs over time and also the carbon footprints of buildings.

In my senior year I plan on doing a thesis project that will focus on this aspect of the building design & construction industry. Stay tuned for updates in about a year!
