I'm not sure which is my first love: writing or music. Either way, I love them both quite equally.
Writing:
I truly fell in love with writing and decided to pursue it as a career in 2000, my senior year of high school. I have been writing professionally as a journalist for the past six years with newspapers, magazines, and websites, but I am now looking to break into the fiction writing industry.
At the beginning of 2010, I accidentally started on my first novel, Fight, which was recently published. I say accidentally because it started as a short story and it simply grew from there. My goal in life is to be an author. I love stories and telling them. I'll even lie to people for a little while to make a story more interesting. I consider myself to be quite interesting and quite adventurous, but sometimes a little falsehood is good for the soul.
Music:
I have sung all my life, but only started focusing on the art of music the past few years. I had learned the saxophone in the late 90s, mostly playing by ear, but put it down for much too long. The drums came next, but I never really did much with it.
Several years ago, I picked up the piano (figuratively, of course) and began teaching myself how to play and write my own music. It's been quite a delight and have a few songs recorded which are on iTunes and look forward to recording a few more. May the list continue.
A Little More Detail:
I love surfing because I love the ocean. I love baseball and boxing for its rich history and folklore. As I said, a little falsehood is good for the soul. I grew up watching Bud Abbott and Lou Costello, Jerry Lewis, and other old comedians, therefore my humor isn't hollow or shallow.
