Duygu Yilmaz

The Hague, The Netherlands

My name is Duygu Yilmaz. I was born and raised in The Netherlands. I left my home country at the age of eighteen to study at Columbia University where I majored in Political Science. I greatly enjoyed living in such a dynamic and exciting city as New York City. I especially appreciated the opportunities I had to witness international politics first hand, but also the opportunity to immerse myself in the many ethnicities and cultures to which New York is such a formidable home.

I subsequently enrolled in the MPhil in Development Studies at the University of Cambridge. This degree furthered my interest in development economics, but also allowed me to enjoy the wonderful theatre and comedy scene in Cambridge.

My passions in life include politics, international economics, exploring new countries, tea and comedy. I would like to combine most of my interests in the future by working in international politics, focusing on trade and traveling many different countries while I do so. For the time being, I will focus on graduating from Cambridge and traveling through Europe and I prepare myself for my next step in life.
