Duygu Bektik

BA Hons (1st), MA Hons (1st), M.Sc (Dist)

Following her combined BA&MA degrees in Computer and Instructional Technologies Teacher Education at The Bilkent University, Turkey; Duygu moved to England in 2011 to study M.Sc Software Engineering at The University of Southampton. She is currently doing her PhD in discourse-centric learning analytics at The Open University, UK and expects to submit her thesis in Sep. 2016.

She is also an active "Women in Tech Advocate" who voluntarily participates, organises and runs the events for women in computing. Her responsibilities include:

= “Outreach and Publicity” member of the ACM-W Europe’s womENcourage Conference since 2013.

= The Vice-chair of the 1st ACM-W Student Chapter, BILWIC (Bilkent University Women in Computing) from 2009 to 2011.

Duygu has also been joined to several women in computing/tech events occurred within the UK.

= Women in Computing Hackathon, Facebook on February 23, 2013.

= Google Android Workshop for Alumni CodeFers in Google’s London office on November 7, 2012.

= Women in Engineering Networking Event, Jaguar Land Rover on April 17, 2012.

= The 1st Google UK CodeF which was an exclusive career event for female computer scientists, took place at Google’s London office on November 24, 2011.
