I am a senior studying Fashion Merchandising at the University of Delaware where I will be receiving my Bachelor's degree in May of 2015 (one week!). During my sophomore year at the University of Delaware, I became an employee at Grassroots Handcrafts, a small boutique housing young women's apparel and unique accessories, home decor, handcrafted gifts, and more. Within the first year of working in retail I developed an interest and knowledge in fashion which influenced my decision to change my area of study from Elementary Education to Fashion Merchandising. Through my position at Grassroots, I had the opportunity to participate in buying activities by attending trade shows in New York such as Coterie, BJI, fame, and more. I have a natural ability to communicate in an intuitive, friendly, and professional manner. I find it important to get to know and relate to people on a deeper level because it develops a connection and may open doors to new friendships. Through my experiences in visual merchandising and advertising - including styling mannequins, creating store and window displays, photography, and avid use social media - I was able to transform my communication abilities into a career path. I consider myself to have a contagious, outgoing, and likable personality. There is no greater goal I have than to constantly strive for a happy and exciting life - luckily, I seem to be headed in the right direction.
