Dylan Freeman-Grist

Toronto

My name is Dylan Freeman-Grist. Currently I'm a journalism student on residence at Ryerson University in Toronto. Outside of the classroom I serve in various roles as a journalist, marketer and communications worker.

Notably I am in the midst of my first term as a news editor at Ryerson's independent student newspaper the Eyeopener.

I am also a content writer for Soap Box Inc. Specifically working with Toronto artist and designer Matthew Del Degan on his brainchild, The Lovebot project.

I'm involved in my campus community, I serve as Vice Chair, public affairs with the Faculty of Communications and Design Internship Committee. I am also currently serving as an associate to the president of the Ryerson Speech and Debate Association. I will be serving as executive vice president in the upcoming school year.

In terms of my strengths I value my communication skills both on paper and face-to-face. I am a writer and a speaker through on through. In the future I am looking to mould my skills into tangible assets, expanding my freelance and clipping portfolio for journalism, working on developing my marketing skills, gaining more experience in public relations while also aiming to possibly study law after graduation.

I also love volunteering in my community. I am a TIFF Volunteer and a mentor to my former high school’s mock-trial team and student newspaper.
