Dylan Mahaney

Background:
I was born and raised in Moncton, NB but spent the time I was not in school at my fathers in Riley Brook, NB. Very very small country village. My heritage is English, Irish, and French.
Once I finished my diploma in interior decorating I put in two years of work with an event planning and decorating firm. Here I learned so much about production and what goes on behind the scenes. I had the opportunity to complete every task imaginable. I consulted with clients, planned weddings, and delegated the decorating tasks. Before taking my interior decorating course I attended college in Fredericton NB taking a visual arts program.
Passion:
Music is the most important thing in my life aside from Family and Friends. Music is the only thing that has always been MINE. I am in full control on what I hear. It is the only that allows me to get lost. I have found myself and God in music.
Personal Fact:
One of the things I am most proud of is the time I spent volunteering for Safe Spaces Moncton. My friend Sue and I started up the program after about ten years of it stopping. Safe Spaces is a support group for LGBTQ teens and their allies. I gave my energy to the group for a year and a half. Our efforts showed huge success for the group and also our community. There was a huge number of kids that attended each week who came to have discussions, see guest speakers, watch movies, or just hang out. We were able to get funding for a full time employee for a 3 year contract as well as have an annual rainbow prom. The prom being my brain child, was definitely a huge accomplishment for me. Seeing my kids be free of judgment even for those short few hours was worth all the time I spent planning.
I recently resigned from my role as coordinator. I had felt the feeling of finality and I knew my work was done and my energy was needed somewhere else.

I am currently the Senior Online Marketing Coordinator for Bow Tie Kreative and the Director of Communications for Jully Black Entertainment.
