Dylan Sands | Pacific Palisades
Athlete and Student in California
Dylan Sands of Pacific Palisades, California, takes an active role in his community on multiple levels. He maintains membership in the National League of Young Men and participates in the YMCA's Youth and Government program, a model legislative experience that teaches young people about the democratic process while helping them to develop public speaking skills, leadership qualities, and pro-social values. Also involved in direct outreach, Dylan Sands stands out as organizer of Songs of Shelter (SOS), a concert that raised money for families in the Los Angeles Family Housing program.
Sands participates in these programs while maintaining a grade point average that places him on the Pacific Palisades Charter High School honor roll. An accomplished athlete as well, he has belonged to his school's lacrosse team for two years and in 2016 joined the surf team. He comes to the surf team not only as a medal-winning swimmer but also as a certified junior lifeguard and ocean scuba diver.
An older brother to two young boys, Dylan Sands enjoys caring for and teaching children. He is an experienced babysitter and has served as a camp counselor in the summer months. An avid traveler as well, he spent one summer in Peru and Ecuador and the next in Alaska.
