Edward Igesa

I was raised by my mum having been orphaned early in life and it was no easy ride. I always wished that my dad was around to tip the scales for the better but he was gone. If only my mum had been empowered more through education and skill development, things would be different. Going through the paces of life would never be that torturous.

I excelled in primary school and high school before gaining admission to the cradle of learning in Kenya, Maseno University. I desired to study English and Literature but I was late in reporting. I lacked school fees and had no sponsor. So ended up studying Economics which was one of my passions anyway. Upon graduation, I was not posted as a teacher as was the norm since the country was bankrupt and in deep recession. I’d to wait for four years before gainful employment came my way.

As a Projects Officer I’ve traversed length and breath of Kenya conducting training clinics in entrepreneurship with women and youth as the target group in order to enhance their capacities. This group forms a huge majority of the population but it’s completely marginalized. If their capacities are improved, their vulnerability and dependence will go down and sooner the vicious cycle of poverty will be broken and they will be set free from the yoke of poverty.

I have a wealth of experience in the following areas;

  • Project implementation
  • Feasibility studies
  • Business plan writing
  • Financial and technical support to SMEs
  • Risk analysis
  • Business Development Services
  • Training and consultancy
  • Project conception, implementation and management

A sustainable future will be achieved when individual family unit will be involved in an income generating activity while utilizing locally available resources. Local resources remain largely unutilized based on ignorance or technical know-how of exploitation.
