Elizabeth Hawkins
When I was 18, I came across the following advice from physicist Richard Feynman: “Explore the world. Nearly everything is really interesting if you go into it deeply enough.” I try to live by this advice and love learning about almost everything.
Now 33, I am a Brit who has been living in Germany for over eight years and working as a commissioning editor at a large scientific publisher for the last six. Entirely due to hard work, I got a first in chemistry (MSci) at the University of Bristol then won Commonwealth scholarship to complete a post graduate diploma in environmental studies in Wellington, New Zealand. When I am not working or taking care of my young son, I enjoy writing, BKS Iyengar yoga, walking in the forest, reading, and learning languages. I also work voluntarily for a grassroots development charity.
