Earl Habecker

I’m Earl Habecker and I’ve been around a while! I’m a senior member on the staff of the Spring Arbor Free Methodist Church and was born in Penn Yan, New York before the second World War. However, I have lived in Michigan the majority of my life, am married to my dearly loved wife, Elma, for 53 years. Together we have three grown children and six grandchildren.

In My Spare Time I’m a back yard veggie gardener, love to work in my yard and fix things around our home. And any chance I get Elma and I visit grand children and extended family. I love to read but haven’t yet tried a Kindle! I’m a would-be techie (just ask our Staff)!

My Story To the question “Can a child hear God speak?” I respond with a whole hearted “yes.” I began following God at a very early age and have continued growing in my love for Jesus Christ for more than 70 years. My relationship with Christ was confirmed as a student at Wayne State University and while attending Asbury Seminary God’s Spirit filled my life with His loving presence. Although more than 50 years have passed since my Seminary days my desire is to know the God who loves me better each day.

My Ministry Journey to Spring Arbor FMC I have had the awesome privilege of pastoring five great churches in Southern Michigan before coming on staff at Spring Arbor FMC 16 years ago.

What I do at Spring Arbor FMC I serve on a super pastoral team here at Spring Arbor FMC and lead the Pastoral Care Ministry. I encourage people as I visit them in the hospital, care centers and in their homes. I also actively support our lay care and prayer ministry. Much of my ministry is with seniors. I welcome opportunities to pray with and encourage people who are hurting or have special needs.
