Earl Fenner

Earl Fenner is an accomplished professional with nearly three decades of experience in the global building materials industry. He has led operations with full P&L accountability and managed teams of more than 400 employees, focusing on efficiency, financial discipline, and long-term growth. His career reflects a steady balance between strategic execution, operational improvements, and a commitment to both employees and customers.

Fenner earned a degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Florida and later completed his MBA at Pepperdine University. His career began in the early 1990s, when he took on roles in plant operations, manufacturing leadership, and product development. These early responsibilities gave him the foundation to manage complex processes, improve production systems, and control costs, preparing him for senior leadership. Over time, his ability to guide significant investments, refine product lifecycles, and expand commercial strategies helped position him as a trusted leader.

Among his most notable achievements was leading the Ultralight Wallboard initiative, the first lightweight drywall technology of its kind. He managed a cross-functional team of more than 100 people to launch USG’s SHEETROCK® Brand Ultralight Panels successfully. This breakthrough innovation played a crucial role in the company’s recovery during the Great Recession. This project underscored his ability to deliver both technical and market success.

In senior roles, Fenner advanced global marketing strategies, developed partnerships that broadened visibility, and directed disruptive innovation efforts that earned the CEO Award. As Director of Operations, he oversaw a division generating over $495 million annually while creating the “Field Champions” program to recognize and retain top performers. Later, as General Manager of the Specialty Ceilings business, he implemented a turnaround strategy that increased unit value by 350 percent, streamlined operations, and improved employee engagement, ensuring consistent profitability and growth.

Outside of his career, he has been active in mentorship, school volunteering, and conservation efforts in Colorado. A family-oriented individual and dedicated marathon runner, he applies the same discipline in his personal life that he brings to his work.
