Mrs. Ebele Sophia Imite-Uka is a First-Class graduate of Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, Ogun State Nigeria and also holds a Master’s degree in Sustainable Environmental Management (Natural Resources Institute) from the University of Greenwich, Medway Campus, United Kingdom. In addition, She holds a Business Expansion Course Certificate from the Santa Clara University, California, USA.
Sophia has 9 years of professional experience in the clean cooking sector and/or oil and gas sector specifically in the LPG sector in Nigeria. She has undergone several professional trainings and obtained certifications such as certification in Energy Economics, Environment, and Policy from the Asian Development Bank Institute (ADBI), 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and Gender Equality by United Nations (UN) Women, Mainstreaming Climate Finance Action in National DFIs from the African Development Bank Group, amongst others.
Sophia has rich experience in renewable energy and energy efficiency, clean cooking energy technologies, women’s empowerment principles (WEPs), gender mainstreaming, carbon footprinting, ecological footprinting, carbon pricing, carbon finance, climate finance, climate change mitigation, health, safety and environmental management systems, LPG fuel retailing and cookstove distribution; coupled with excellent administrative skills, leadership skills, report writing, strategic business planning, business intelligence, international business, social entrepreneurship, data management, surveys, project management, supervisory skills, customer service, public speaking, business model canvas, environmental protection, sustainable development, environmental impact assessment, research, monitoring and evaluation skills. etc. She is a member of LPG Global Network (World LPG Association); Global Network of Partners at the Global Alliance for Clean Cookstoves; Global Women’s Network for Energy Transition (GWNET); Gender and Energy Network (Collaboration for Development, World Bank Group); Women’s Energy Council, London, United Kingdom; United Nations (UN) Women – Empower Network, Institute of Safety Professionals (Nigeria), Clean Energy Business Network (USA).
