I'm Ebetuel (Beto) Pallares and I hold a Ph.D. in International Business Strategy from the University of Texas at El Paso, in addition to an MBA. I received a B.A. in economics from Brandeis University. Born in Cd. Juarez, Chihuahua, Mexico and raised in El Paso, TX,, I began my career as a management consultant focused on the telecom industry. I've been a start-up entrepreneur, a telecom executive, and restauranteur, a nonprofit director, and a venture capitalist. My expertise is in seed and early-stage venture investments, as well as venture fund creation. I currently make investments on behalf of a family office, managing fund commitments and direct investments into private operating companies. I am also the managing director and co-founder of Cowork Oasis, a cowork space that aims to transform the entrepreneurial culture in the Borderplex region by incorporating best-in-class mentorship, tech tools, and resources. I am actively seeking to back exceptional tech entrepreneurs, as well as start-ups that are using tech to address education, healthcare, financial and technical challenges. My investment sectors span IT, materials sciences and nanotechnology, education technology, AR/VR and fintech companies. I'm also a Kauffman Fellow and a Presidio Fellow and serve on the board of nearly a dozen private companies, and on the board of the Latino Business Action Network (LBAN) and the Success Through Technology Education (STTE) Foundation. I also hold Bill and Sharon Sherrif Endowed Chair in Entrepreneurship in the Department of Finance, College of Business at New Mexico State University. I frequently lecture internationally on topics ranging from tech ecosystem development and start-up mentorship.
