Eclectic Ceilidh Club

Glasgow, Scotland, United Kingdom

The Eclectic Ceilidh Club, comprises four experienced musicians from different backgrounds who share a love of dance & Celtic music.

Anne Morgan (fiddle & viola) plays in a number of classical ensembles such as the Cleveden Quartet as well as the Morgan Lee Band, a contemporary Celtic band. Barrie Wilson (keyboards) shares Anne's classical roots. Hugh Lee (mandolin, vocals) has played in various folk bands since his early teens. Niall McGarvie is a drummer with the rock band Arches

Having played in 'traditional' ceilidh bands for some time, Anne & Hugh came to realise that many of today's dancers want something a little bit different for their event - be it a wedding or anniversary, Burns Supper, birthday celebration, corporate event, or charity function. Hence, Eclectic Ceilidh Club was formed!

Ceilidhs should be great fun! But not just for those who are already familiar with the dance steps. Aside from the music, the 'secret' of a great ceilidh is in the dance 'calling' where, in just a few minutes, people who have never danced at a ceilidh before find that they can learn the steps with ease.

Eclectic Ceilidh Club guarantee a fantastic night's entertainment with dances interspersed with traditional song so that the participants can take well-earned breathers! We perform not only traditional Scots & Irish music, but also tunes from the U.S.A. & Canada, the Basque country, Asia, and beyond, all of which, perhaps surprisingly, make the perfect accompaniment to Scottish country dance.
