Elizabeth Rockhill Counsman
Indialantic, FL
In addition to my transactional work, I am also a certified civil circuit mediator. I am a firm believer that disputes are better handled out of the court system. A mediator helps empower the parties to solve a dispute themselves. Mediation can save thousands of dollars of litigation expenses.
I attended Stetson University College of Law. I focused my course work on classes that would help me strengthen my research and writing skills as well as my dispute resolution skills. I took several negotiation and dispute resolution classes. I knew in law school that I wanted to help people solve disputes out of the courtroom.
During law school, I supported myself by running my own fitness business. My experience running my own business really gives me a strong understanding of the struggles associated with being an entrepreneur
After I graduated law school in 2005, I worked for myself again as a freelance research and writer for local attorneys where I continued to strengthen my research, writing, and negotiation skills.
From 2007 until 2011, I worked as a transactional attorney for a medium sized city. In this position, I drafted, reviewed, and negotiated contracts and researched and drafted ordinances. This provided me tremendous experience in negotiation and resolving conflict.
In addition to my law practice, I am also a fulltime professor for a Central Florida college where I teach negotiation and deal-making classes.
When I am not busy working, you can find me writing, taking pictures, cross training, running, reading, gardening or spending time with my family.
