Emma Cram
After gaining a 2:1 in English at Queen’s University I worked for Taylor Nelson Sofres Media Monitoring , producing succinct reports on media stories for clients in a high pressured environment and to very tight deadlines. I loved the thrill of the live translation from TV news stories to written report in under half an hour and the challenge of cramming screeds of information into a few lines. From here I worked at Diabetes UK working my way from PR Assistant to Marketing Executive, honing my trade and learning how to make complex scientific information motivate anyone from fundraisers to board members through marketing and advertising campaigns, reports and articles. Digital marketing was taking off and I learned how to write for web, create excellent e-newsletters and make the most of an ever growing social media audience. Here I also worked on a re-brand and my passion for the power of words and how they impact an organisations’ public perception continued to grow. Moving on from Diabetes UK I started as Marketing Officer for Glasgow Libraries in 2011; coming as close to utopia as possible for an obsessive book lover. At this point I returned to more traditional marketing techniques and had the opportunity to use words in a refreshingly sophisticated way to engage our target markets. In 2012 I was promoted to Assistant Marketing & Digital Manager and now manage the marketing for Libraries and Community Facilities in Glasgow as well as look after all of our branding and corporate marketing. I also mange the marketing of all Glasgow Life’s services to under 18s in the city.
