Ed Blaze is a rising star who is as hard-working as he is quick-witted. In addition to performing at every opportunity and showcasing his own unique brand of humor, Ed has found time to reach out and assist in the careers of other aspiring comics through the startup of his company, Metro Comedy Entertainment.

Recent accomplishments and highlights include opening for Ralphie May, Jim Gaffigan, Gary Owens, Erin Foley, and Pierre Edwards. And somewhere between all of that, Ed also found time to promote the “This Ain’t Safe” tour with Nema Williams and produce the comedy DVD, “U Gotta Dollar,” also featuring Nema Williams, which is currently on sale.

Ed’s sense of humor was the coping mechanism that not only allowed him to survive, but to thrive in the face of extremely humble beginnings. Raised by his grandparents in a small Tanzanian village of Central East Africa, Ed recalls sleeping nights on a goatskin on the dirt floor while rats ran freely about the family hut.

When recounting that experience, Ed points out that “These are not like the nice rats you have in America with the nice fur, the nice hair, and everything. The ones back home are dirty and hair’s missing in spots…like they have a bad disease… like diarrhea of a wimpy kid.”

While much of Ed’s humor is derived from his absurdly hilarious comparisons between life in Tanzania and the United States, he is certainly not limited to that theme. He is equally adept at making his audiences laugh and squirm while sharing his unique perspective on subjects such as politics, pop culture, sexual relationships, and race.

Among others, Ed lists his comedic influences as Richard Pryor, Dave Allen, Dave Chappelle, Chris Rock, Lewis Black, and George Carlin, and, of course, the rats…those mangy Tanzanian rats.
