The Creature

Ingolstad

I was created by Victor Frankenstein in a slaughter house. People always mistake me for being an unintelligent monster who wants to cause havoc but in reality i am just the oposite. I am an intelligent creature who wants nothing more then to be accepted by society. I have learned what pain is and i do not wish to inflict it on any of the cottagers. "I have been acustomed during the night to steal part of their store for my own consumption, but when i found in doing this, i inflicted pain on the cottagers..." (pg 92) I enjoy watching the cottagers go about their day. I have learned many things from observing them. "... I learned and applied the words fire, milk, bread and wood." (pg 93). Even though they reject me, i admire their everyday doings and find them very interesting. Eventually their fear in me made me begin to question what i really was. "... when i became fully convinced that i was in reality the monster that i am, i was filled with bitter sensations of despondance and mortification." (pg 94). The ephipany i had made me realise that human beings are monsters. They are the ones who cant see through the exterior apperance and judge someone by whats on the inside rather then the outside. " From that moment i declared everlasting war against the species, and more then all, against him who had formed me and sent me fourth to this insoprtable misery." (pg 116). I began the journy to Geneva to find the man who created me. On the way i was shot for saving a young girl from drowning. This only angered me more and made me more determined to find my creator and get revenge. When i found him, i threatned him. "My companion must be of the same species and have the same defects. This being you must create" (pg 123). My creator seems skeptical about the idea but i convince him that i will not have the urge to kill if i have a female companion. If granted this, i promise to leave and commit no more acts of evil. "If you consent, neither you or any other human being shall ever see us again; I will go to the vast wilds of South America..." (pg 125) I can only hope Victor feels responsible enough to fix the problem he made by creating me because if he does not, i will show all humans the horrifying monster i can truly be.
