Ed Taylor

I have been teaching high school Theology for the past 18 years. I have taught at all the levels; freshmen through seniors. Currently I primarily teach freshmen with the exception of a class I developed during the 2011-2012 school year.

REEL THEOLOGY

This is the class I developed last year. Reel Theology is the culmination of almost two decades of dreaming. Finally, at the urging of my department chair, I developed Reel Theology. Reel Theology allows us to tap into the love high school students have for films and in so doing, explore the spiritual messages inherent in many films.

One rule we have in Reel Theology is NO OVERTLY RELIGIOUS FILMS. My seniors and I like the challenge of watching what would be considered mainstream, non-spiritual films and being challenged to find and discuss the spiritual undertones present in the film. My students and I have found that as we attend films in the theater, we can't help but look for spiritual messages whether they be intentional or not.
