Elle

Ahhhh…the dreaded “About Me” section! My name is Elle. I am a paralegal, a graduate student, and a federal government employee. Many moons ago, I married my childhood friend – a United States Marine – and consequently joined the "ranks" of a military spouse. There are few things I hate more than a military spouse insinuating that she has her husband's rank, so it is important that I clarify the term being used here is merely a figure of speech. I promise it is not some veiled attempt to suggest I rate some sort of rank. Respect, not to be confused with rank, is another issue altogether. Military wives most definitely DO rate respect and lots of it, unless of course they are 5 months pregnant at the end of a 7 month deployment!

I don’t take myself too seriously and find laughing a much better use of my emotional energy than crying or bitching. My husband’s name is Jay, and he is an infantry Marine who loves to deploy. I think something might be wrong with him! Thankfully, he is so close to retirement that we can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel and for once, it’s not an oncoming train! In just a little over 5 years we will be lounging on the beach talking about the good ole’ days when listening to a little Jimmy Buffet or Bob Marley, as waves crash around our feet. I am certain we will reflect on the great friends we have met (who are now considered family), the adventures we have had, and even the deployments we endured during Jay’s military career.

Me....in a nutshell:

  • I LOVE martinis -- pretty much all flavors!
  • I am a huge fan of college football -- GO DAWGS!
  • I enjoy of all genres of music - except opera and chamber music.
  • I am adopted and have a wonderful relationship ALL my families - both adopted and biological.
  • I have two Boston Terriers (AKA the Boston Terrorists)
  • I can't wink and that makes me sad.
  • I procrastinate.... a lot.
  • I refuse to age gracefully; I'm doing it kicking and screaming!

I sincerely hope you enjoy my blog and please come back often.
